Last week was National Nurses Week. I am not a nurse, but I know quite a few. My favorite nurse is in heaven healing and sending vibes of her presence on a daily. My big Sis worked her butt off and left such a great impact on those around her. It is because of her that I am going into the nursing field. That is my career goal.
I knew my demeanor was off last week, so I allowed myself to cry and focus on the happier times with my Sis. All week I celebrated her accomplishment of becoming a Registered Nurse. It’s amazing to see the sacrifice that those in the Nursing Profession make to take care of a complete stranger. Like I said in my Facebook post dedicated to her, “with a level of unmeasurable compassion and care, Nurses save lives.” I can’t wait to become a part of the nursing field.
I finally went back to my previous duty assignment in Seoul. It was so surreal. Being there brought back so many memories. I tried not to focus on the bad ones, but honestly, I am now able to laugh at those memories. Trust me it was crazy during those times, but if I hadn’t met the wonderful people that I did, I wouldn’t have been able to laugh at those crazy memories. Walking the halls of the old hospital was weird. It was almost like I was in the dimension of when Thanos snapped his fingers. Yes, there were familiar faces there, but not all the familiar faces that made that unit unique. To be perfectly honest, I almost feel like this whole tour in South Korea can be compared to when Thanos snapped his fingers. All of us are kind of waiting for the Avengers (our replacements) to rescue us… don’t mind me, I have watched Avengers Infinity War on Netflix almost every day this past week.
Walking the halls of the old unit wasn’t all that we did. We started out the morning on a nice run. For lunch we hiked up to Seoul Tower. It is safe to say that I burned a whole lot of calories that day. It’s been a while since the section I worked in actually felt like a team. I can finally say that I have that feeling again.
The Tulip Festival… well that didn’t really happen lol. What did happen was that four ladies went on a car ride and explored parts of Korea unknown. It was priceless. I now see why it is important to pay attention in the head start classes that are offered to become more familiar with the culture here. At the end of the day, we had a great time and I can’t wait to do it again.
This past week I allowed myself to open up just a little bit more to those around me. I may be transparent, but that doesn’t mean that those around me honestly know what I am going through. I knew last week would be a hard one, but reaching out has helped. I am thankful for those that I have encountered here who have genuinely cared.
Now, let me get back to living in this alternate Marvel Universe.
