Another Dance Saturday I am missing, but that is okay. I love that my baby girl really enjoys her dance class. On the mornings that Lauryn had dance, my husband and myself would sometimes alternate taking her. Elliott would do well in the lobby of the dance studio most days, but we picked our battles wisely. So, we alternated to give each kid a chance to be an individual.
On the mornings I would take her, I was always running late. I just had to have my coffee and steal eggs from the breakfast Deon would make himself
coming back from his workout at the gym. When I would drive to the studio, we would have our car karaoke to Disney classics, like A Goofy Movie soundtrack. Her favorites are the Moana and Aladdin soundtracks. This would get her in the mindset for her dance class too.
Lauryn would encourage me to workout at the kickboxing studio next door to her dance class right after her class. She motivated me as much as I motivated her. On the way home, we would do a little shopping and grab our favorite, Chickfila.
This was our Dance Saturday. I always looked forward to these moments. We are building memories that will last a lifetime. That is part of the reason I did not want to bring the children here. Yes, they would have a different set of memories, but I didn’t want to disrupt their routine for two years of trying to create a normalcy that isn’t exactly normal. I grew up as an Army dependent and because of that I want as much stability for my kids as possible. I understand early mornings and moving is part of their young lives, but I wanted to do this for them. I find comfort in knowing that they are love beyond measure and my family is doing everything they can in my absence. They haven’t missed a beat.
